The Sevastopol Central Children's Library of A. Gaidar

The first children's library in Sevastopol was open in January, 1921.
Prior to the beginning of the Great Patriotic War the library was the centre of dialogue of children, carried out mass work on propagation of the books. In library's fund was assembled about 5 thousand books.


In 1942 During artillery bombardment the library has completely burned down.
After clearing Sevastopol the children's library has opened again in July, 1944.

In 1953 The Central Children's Library has moved to a new premise on the Ushakov-square, and in 1954 the name of the writer A.P. Gaidar was given.


In 1971 Central Children's Library named after А. Gaidar first in Ukraine has united all children's libraries of city in a uniform system. Today Centralized Library System for children includes 19 libraries.

In 1991 The exhibition hall "The Crimean palette" was created.  

In 1993 The museum of the children's book is open.

 In 1995 The Centre of the information, leisure and development of creative abilities of the readers was opened.  

In 1999 Beginning of a computerization of library work.
